For those who are not aware, RickRolling is a popular prank on social media sites where users post mislabeled links that actually point to a video of Rick Astley’s #1 hit single from 1988, “Never Gonna Give You Up”.

YouTube UK decided to RickRoll all its users on April Fool’s day. All the videos featured on YouTube, YouTube UK and YouTube Australia were actually linked to the now extremely popular video by Rick Astley.

Find Out Which Of Your Friends Got RickRolled

While this may seem funny to some, it is bound to annoy most users, and there are already suggestions to outlaw such practices. ABC News reports that this practical joke is certainly boosting Rick Astley’s otherwise non-existant musical career.

The mega RickRoll is actually just one of Google’s pranks this year. The company has always shown its fun side by creating prank sites, announcements and products each year on April Fool’s day. Last year they “invented” a product called TiSP, which provided free in-home wireless broadband via the toilet commode! This year they launched “project” Virgle in association with the Virgin Group to establish a permanent human settlement on Mars.

The joke doesn’t end there, though. Google Australia also announced the “launch” of gDay with MATE, a new service that allows users to search content on the Internet before it is created.

Do you know of any other Google pranks that we had not heard of yesterday?
