3rd April 2007
More than a year after UK banks launched mobile banking services, the USA has finally caught up, more or less. Citibank announced the launch of mobile banking services yesterday.
Citi Mobile, the new mobile banking technology from Citibank will initially be available in Southern California, and then to the rest of the USA by mid-2007. The new service will require download of an application onto the mobile device for now, but AT&T plans to pre-install this one phones starting from the second half of this year.
Last month Cingular had announced plans to launch banking services for mobile devices with some smaller local banks. The Citibank initiative, though, is the first significant mobile banking service to be offered States-side.
