Users of Google Desktop Search can now preview results without needing to actually open an application to view the file contents.
The new release of Google Desktop 5 beta was announced yesterday. The latest version comes with improvements in the gadgets and sidebar user interfaces as well as improvements in security – an area where Google Desktop has received much scrutiny and criticism.
Security improvements in the new beta version, though, do not address concerns about security of the system itself. Instead, it helps enhance user security by warning them if external links in the Desktop Search results lead to malicious sites.
